One of the nicest things you can do for your body (and your mood) is to reduce your intake of added sugars and refined carbohydrates.
Avoid the center of the supermarket as much as possible. That’s where most of the processed foods are shelved. Instead, shop the perimeter for healthy, raw foods.
Become a sugar detective. You can start by knowing the alternate names for added sugars,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], often found in ingredients lists. These include any ingredient that ends in the suffix “-ose,” including sucrose, dextrose, fructose, lactose, polydextrose, maltose, and galactose. Indulge in moderation. If you are a chocoholic, treat yourself to a square of fine chocolate at the end of a long day. And sugar can make you hyperactive and irritable, too, as it knocks your body out of whack.

Be careful not to make sugar taboo in your household. With children, especially, when you swear off something completely, you run the risk of creating a mystique around the forbidden food. The World Health Organization recommends reducing your intake of added sugars to less than 10 percent of your total caloric intake. That means, if you eat 2,000 calories, you should eat less than 12 teaspoons of sugar each day. The US Department of Agriculture also recommends limiting your consumption of added sugar to between 6 and 12 teaspoons of sugar each day, depending on your daily average caloric intake. (Six teaspoons a day for people who eat 1,600 calories; 12 teaspoons if you eat 2,200 calories each day.) Keep in mind that a single 12-ounce soft drink contains 10 teaspoons of sugar.
If you need to lose weight, consider a diet plan that focuses on reducing sugar intake. The Sugar Busters Diet Plan is probably the most well known. Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women in the United States, but many women are not aware of that. Health experts say informing women about the risk of developing the disease is the first step in preventing it.
Women today are more likely than ever to suffer from heart disease, says cardiologist Matthew Budoff.
Women should discuss their heart health with their doctors, experts say. "They are actually at increased risk of heart disease, partly because they live longer," he says. "And so,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], as they get older, they are more likely to develop high blood pressure, diabetes, and their cholesterol goes up. A lot of these issues are not discussed with their primary care physicians as diligently as men."
The first step toward fighting the disease among women, Budoff says, is dispelling the misconceptions about it -- such as that heart disease only affects men.
"The heart attack rate actually now is higher in women than in men in the United States," he says. "More women die of heart attack, more women die of stroke, and more women die of heart failure than men every year in the United States. It's really a female-predominant disease at this point."
Another misconception, he says, is that breast cancer is women's No 1. health concern.
Natural health care provider Bob DeMaria says taking care of your overall health can improve your heart health. "Breast cancer is a very important disease for women and a big health concern," he says. "But approximately 5-to-1 of those women will die of heart disease rather than breast cancer. So heart disease is a much bigger killer of women in our society than breast cancer."
Separating facts from fiction, Budoff says,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], can help women make better health decisions.
"Women have to make sure that they are not only getting their mammograms and self breast exams, but that they're also finding out about their heart health," he says. Fulfilling relationships can help women improve their emotional and physical health. To help prevent heart disease, registered dietitian Keri Glassman encourages women to re-examine their lifestyle and take baby steps to make it healthier.
"We're really focusing on women making small changes and building on them to improve their overall lifestyle," she says. "We can modify many things to our daily lifestyle. We can improve our weight. We can reduce the amount of sodium we're consuming. We can incorporate more fiber and more omega-3s into our diet."

The fruits I would eat would be pears, plums and apples. I would use sea salt. I would focus on gluten-free wheat products. I would drink water from a pure source.
"I would use animal tissue, including lamb or chicken; organic will be the best. Deep ocean fish, not farm-raised fish. I'd have B vitamins. B vitamins are important for sending electrical impulses along nerves.

Here are 3 common erroneous beliefs and suggested ways to shift into better thinking.

People get stuck in their paradigms without realizing that their thinking is what is creating and perpetuating the problem.
My friend that lost over 100 pounds decided not to wait for a heart attack or leg amputation to force him to change. Instead, he proactively made incremental shifts that melted pounds away and added years to his life.
Rather than failing and then berating himself while consuming another gallon of ice cream, he would just resume his healthy habits, even within the same hour. The more he did it, the better he got.
Erroneous belief #3:
It also creates the overwhelming illusion that you must change everything all at once or you're not really changing anything at all.
The shift:
What would be a doable, powerful, and positive change that would bring more health and well-being into your life in 2011?

Truth is...we don't have all the time in the world. We have a limited existence on this earth with bodies that age and decline.
